One thing I love about working with migraine clients is the process of witnessing and supporting the incredible strength that people have in the face of pain and suffering, the amount of spiritual fortitude that they claim, and the joy and resiliency and healing that is borne of their commitment. To go THROUGH the healing process rather than to skirt around the central issue takes immense courage – and is frankly, at times a fucking harrowing and terrifying experience. If I hadn’t gone through it myself I’m not sure I would be able to know how to stand by people’s side as an ally.

And to be honest, since I was never on pharmaceuticals, I always get queasy when a client decides to go off hormones, sleep pills, anti-depressants, pain meds, etc. I do not have experience or expertise to guide people in this way, but they often choose to do it anyway while I’m working with them. To add to the challenge, interpreting mineral dynamics with pharmaceuticals in place adds extra layers of complexity, because of the ways that pharmaceuticals interfere with and modulate body chemistry.

I provide this all as context for sharing just how profoundly exciting the healing that this former client of mine has achieved actually is, because she made a drastic turnaround in her health and wellbeing because of – but also in spite of – getting off quite a few pharmaceuticals of her own volition. At one point in the process of working with her I even secretly vowed to myself that I wouldn’t take anyone on who is on more than one pharmaceutical, especially because they often don’t have good support from their doctors (and often are overtly criticized for their choice to get off). It can be hard working with people who have a foot planted firmly in two different paradigms of healing. It can become just too easy for them to reach for the quick fix pill.

This former client of mine broke that pattern of pharmaceutical dependency. I have incredible respect for her choices — and so deeply appreciate her words here sharing her experience coaching with me. I hope this serves as some inspiration to all of you about what is possible in healing migraine.

I’m a 15+ year chronic migraine sufferer. I’ve tried everything, or what I thought was everything, until I found Marya through a a random and desperate Google search. All of the medical professionals I’ve seen over the years have been content to prescribe pharmaceuticals to mask the problem, once they ruled out a serious issue like a brain tumor. I’ve been prescribed and tried Maxalt, Relpax, Codeine, Topiramax, Emgality, Immitrex, nortriptyline, beta blockers, anti-depressants, CBD, spironolactone, continuous hormonal birth control, and more. I’ve also gone vegan, gluten free, done diet journaling and elimination diets, tried copious supplements and promised quick fixes, visited the chiropractor regularly, and juiced celery every day.

Coming off a relatively migraine free period last spring, I noticed a sudden spike in migraines. I was able to trace it back to a larger consumption of canola oil, which is a known migraine trigger for me. After back-to-back migraines in a short period of time, I googled migraines and canola oil. This search led me to find a blog Marya had written about the impacts of seed oil on inflammation and migraines. I remember I was on vacation and so sad that migraine was once again robbing my life of joy. I walked along the beach and watched her video on how migraines are a symptom, not a disease. Hmmm. I had never heard that before. I was intrigued.

I quickly made an appointment for a consultation. Immediately Marya was able to pinpoint the supplements I was taking that weren’t supportive. I stopped those and started taking her online course, while planning to send my hair sample in as soon as I got the kit. From our first call, I felt very supported by Marya. I could feel how empathetic she was, having been there herself. Everybody suffering from migraine has different causes, so hers isn’t an easy job. She was very committed to helping me find ways to heal my migraines, using her personal experience, expertise, and the data from my HTMA. Not a single other person or medical professional had ever offered to help in such a way.

My journey was long and challenging as I made the decision to immediately go off all my pharmaceutical preventatives, including hormonal birth control which is known to cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Marya didn’t tell me to do this, but rather she served as a mirror to show me what I knew I needed to do. We both knew this would be difficult, but that it would also offer true healing. My first HTMA revealed that I was indeed very deficient in many minerals and in some cases, leaking minerals. Marya’s report was very easy to follow. She breaks it down into 3 layers so it’s not too overwhelming. Most supplements are on Amazon, but she also provides links when needed so putting her plan into practice is easy. Because of my unique situation, it was a very hard first 3 months. Marya was so supportive of what I was going through and always offered tips and advice. She was responsive to my emails and I always felt like she was in my corner. At times she offered tough love, but I always knew in my heart she was right.

Fast forward 5 months later. I took my second HTMA test 2 months ago and the results were incredibly positive! I was so surprised at how much progress I had made in the first 3 months. With the second test, Marya customized my plan even further and I immediately started to feel better. Recently, I just celebrated my first ever 4 week period without having a migraine. More than that, I feel like I have my life back. I don’t dread making plans anymore, in fact, I find myself trying to make plans with friends for the first time in ages. I have more energy, I’m sleeping without pharmaceuticals, and I generally feel like my body is healing. I wake up every day feeling grateful for this journey and for Marya.

Marya’s knowledge about body systems, vitamins, minerals and other herbs is just mind-blowing. She is such an expert in holistic and natural solutions. I learned so much along the way about how vitamins and minerals interact with each other. This is definitely not something you should attempt yourself. It’s incredibly complicated and you need an expert to get the results you deserve. She also has the wisdom that comes from being an intuitive and spiritually connected being. I trusted her completely and have recommended her to many friends and families. This program was worth every penny and more. I wish everybody who is reading this a successful healing journey of their own. XO
